Loyens En Loeff advocaten
Loyens & Loeff has partnered with the Timbo Africa Foundation. This Dutch foundation’s mission is to create wildlife corridors (migration routes for wildlife), create jobs for local communities and reintroduce and re-wild endangered and decimated African species in the Central Tuli game reserve, Botswana. Poaching is one of the challenges facing the Foundation and this is where Loyens & Loeff has partnered with the Timbo Africa Foundation. The so-called ‘Anti Poaching Unit’ which Timbo has set up deals with keeping poachers out of the area. The Foundation deliberately hires poachers and hunters in the game reserve and trains them intensively through a training programme. This gives them a steady income and teaches them the value of living African wildlife. Together with local authorities, building watchtowers and local people, poaching activities can be tackled. With the donation from Gert-Wim and Loyens & Loeff, 9 local people were trained, outfits purchased for them and medical checks realised. Recently, an entire syndicate of poachers and buyers of Giraffe and Kudu meat, among others, has been rounded up in the area.

AVILA Foundation
To give travellers a chance to offset the CO2 component of air travel, a large tree nursery for native African trees has been set up by the Timbo Africa Foundation in the Central Tuli Game Reserve in Botswana, where the foundation has been active in conservation, creating wildlife corridors and reintroducing endangered game species since 2016. From the Foundation, four Tented Camps have been built, Koro Camps and Harena Camps, from which much of the projects on site are funded. At this nursery, guests visiting the Tented Camps and hence direct clients Avila Travel, can purchase any number of indigenous tree species such as Baobab, Howler Tree and Jackalberry, which will be placed back in eroded areas and Riverine Forests in the Game Reserve.
