Blue Route
Koro Camps - Northern Kruger Park
For travellers looking to make the most of their Southern African adventure, we recommend a scenic and culturally rich route that begins at Koro Camps and winds its way through some of the region’s most iconic destinations
Your first stop is the renowned Mapungubwe National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that tells the story of one of Africa’s earliest kingdoms. Here, you can explore ancient ruins, enjoy sweeping views, and stand at the tripoint where Botswana, South Africa, and Zimbabwe meet — a truly unique geographical and cultural landmark.
From Mapungubwe, continue north to the Kruger National Park, entering through:
- Pafuri Gate, where TAE partners with ReturnAfrika to offer immersive, community-based safari experiences.
- Or Punda Maria Gate, ideal for those staying in SanParks accommodations.
This northern section of Kruger is a hidden gem — a remote and wild landscape with fewer visitors, offering a more intimate and authentic safari experience.
From the north, you can drive south through the park, taking in the diverse ecosystems and wildlife along the way. The journey leads to the vibrant safari hubs of Hoedspruit and Phalaborwa, where more adventures await.
